Door County makes a great "staycation" destination. |

High fuel prices and a sluggish economy made the extravagant summer vacation less attainable for some families, forcing some to vacation closer to home. Hence, the word "staycation" was splashed around a lot this summer.
What about you? Did you, indeed, "staycation" this summer, or did you journey to distant lands regardless of potential financial restraints? Sound off, Milwaukee and tell us of your summertime travels!
I was a staycationer. I definitely traveled less this summer, and enjoyed the Wisconsin / Midwest sights. Camping, day trips, Wisconsin water parks and / or exploring nearby towns were the highpoints of my summer.
I went on the road anyway. I didn't let gas prices or the ecomony slow me down. I think "staycation" is a word the media latched onto, but in reality, most people either stayed home or visited the places and people they would have under normal circumstances.
