Flooding from last week's round of heavy rains is still keeping some Wisconsin roads closed today.
The biggest closure continues to be on westbound I-94, where all traffic is being diverted off the freeway at Highway 83 near Delafield and sent south to I-43 in Mukwonago. You'll then have to take that freeway to Beloit and heading north on I-39/90 to get to Madison and beyond.
Unfortunately, most of the side roads in the area are also closed because of the floods, making the long detour -- more than 50 extra miles -- necessary. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says it will be at least three days before the freeway is reopened.
There is some good news, however. I-39/90/94 is now open in both directions between US 151 (on Madison's northwest side) and Mauston (past Wisconsin Dells). There are some scattered stretches with minor lane restrictions, so check the WisDOT Web site before hitting the road.
