Brewers fans pining for the addition of Jeff Weaver to the starting rotation are out of luck; the organization released the veteran right-hander today.
Weaver, signed to a minor-league deal, shortly after the season started was far from impressive in nine starts with Class AAA Nashville. Weaver posted a 2-4 record with a 6.22 ERA. He allowed 64 hits and 20 walks in 55 innings while striking out 37.
He made his final appearance yesterday, allowing eight runs on 11 hits with four walks in six innings of an 8-6 loss to Oklahoma.
The Brewers had until Sunday to add Weaver to the major league roster or he would have been able to become a free agent.
