Derrick Turnbow's struggles have continued at Class AAA Nashville, where he's allowed 21 walks in 6 innings.

Minor-league start provides no relief for Turnbow

In an effort to try anything to shake Derrick Turnbow out of his rut, the Nashville Sounds sent the right-hander to the mound as a starter Wednesday night, but the results were no better.

Turnbow allowed two runs on a hit and six walks in a 1 2/3 innings against Albuquerque. Since he was demoted to Class AAA Nashville on May 9, Turnbow has appeared in seven games with Nashville, allowing nine runs on six hits with 21 walks and has a 13.50 ERA. Even more alarming is Turnbow's WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched), which now stands at 4.67.

It was Turnbow's first start since 2004, when he was pitching for Salt Lake City, the Anaheim Angels' Class AAA affiliate. Turnbow also started one game with the Angels, back in 2000.

Maybe they could shift him down to the Huntsville Stars or the Brevard Manatees. That way they could free up the roster spot in Nashville for Gagne! That would be $13.5 million tied up with 2 minor league pitchers. You can't hang that on Ned Yost, he can only work with the talent he's given. Let's hope that Doug Melvin can pull some magic before the trade deadline. Maybe a package deal with Prince, Turnbow, and Gagne with some American League team would bring in some relief and talent. With Scott Boras as his agent and Prince feeling the Brewers front office stiffed him with their salary offer for this season, he's not going to come back once he's a free agent. Watching him play this year, it seems as if he's already left Milwaukee.
