The Bucks have selected Scott Skiles as their new head coach.
Terms of Skiles' deal were not immediately disclosed.
Skiles, 44, coached the Chicago Bulls for four-plus seasons before the team fired him last Christmas Eve. The Bulls were 9-16 at the time, but Skiles guided them to three consecutive winning seasons before that.
Skiles, who also coached in Phoenix, has a 281-251 record as an NBA coach and has guided five teams to the playoffs.
A schoolboy standout in Plymouth, Ind., Skiles starred at Michigan State and was drafted by the Bucks in the first round in 1986. He played in 13 games in a rookie season marred by a neck injury, but revived his career and spent close to 10 seasons in the league as a point guard.
Skiles is regarded as a no-nonsense coach who is blunt in his evaluations of players. That caused some problems for him in Chicago, where he clashed with forward Ben Wallace.
