The Brewers introduced Bruce Seid (pronounced "side") as their director of amateur scouting and promoted Ray Montgomery to assistant director.
Seid, 46, who has worked in the Brewers scouting department for 11 seasons, replaces Jack Zduriencik, who left to become general manager in Seattle.
"Bruce brings a tireless work ethic and passion to the position," said general manager Doug Melvin. "He has strong evaluating skills and will use his managing skills to put together a strong amateur scouting staff that will be responsible to feed our player development system."
Montgomery, 39, has spent six seasons with the Brewers, including the past two seasons as Midwest crosschecker. He joined the Brewers as an area scout for South Texas and Louisiana in December 2002. In that role, he was responsible for the scouting and signing of current Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks (2003 First-Year Player Draft).
The Brewers also promoted Zack Minasian to manager of minor league scouting personnel / coordinator of pro scouting. He is entering his fifth season with the Brewers after joining the organization as a baseball operations assistant in 2005. He spent the past two seasons as coordinator of professional scouting.
"Ray and Zack both have great futures in our game and they have been elevated to positions with more managing responsibilities," Melvin said. "I have a lot of confidence in their abilities and decision making."
