The Packers will be in the national spotlight when they begin the Aaron Rodgers era.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that the Packers will open the 2008 season with a home game against Minnesota at 6 p.m. Sept. 8. The game will be televised on ESPN as part of a "Monday Night Football" doubleheader.
The second game of the doubleheader will be Denver at Oakland. The NFL announced its opening week slate, but the rest of the schedule remains under wraps.
The Packers are expected to retire Brett Favre's jersey at some point during the season. Could this be the game? It would seem unlikely, given the timing. Maybe there will be another nationally televised game that can use a promotional boost. Perhaps an NFL Network game against the Bears?
What do you think?
