Ohio State, Pittsburgh headline Milwaukee bracket

March Madness is here, and the basketball action heats up in Milwaukee this week as the Bradley Center hosts the Midwest and West regional rounds of the "big dance." With fans flocking from near and far, the editorial staff at OnMilwaukee.com thought we'd help greet our new visitors with a week's worth of features and guides to everything that makes our city a great place to visit. The NCAA Tournament pairings for games played at the Bradley Center has been announced.

Second seeded Ohio State (27-7) -- winner of the Big Ten Conference Tournament -- will face No. 15 UC-Santa Barbara (20-9) while Oklahoma State (22-10) will take on Georgia Tech (22-12) in Midwest Regional contests.

The other portion of the Milwaukee pod will pit third-seeded Pittsburgh (24-8) against No. 14 Oakland (26-8) and No. 6 Xavier (24-8) against No. 11 Minnesota (21-13).

Xavier and Minnesota will play the first of four Friday games, tipping off at 11:25 a.m. followed by Pittsburgh and Oakland at 1:55 p.m.

The evening session gets underway with Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech at 6:15 p.m. and Ohio State and UCSB following, at approximately 8:45 p.m.

BMO Harris Bradley Center

While BMO Harris Bank can crow about their name on Milwaukee`s Downtown entertainment destination while the rest of us simply ignore it, what they, along with Harley-Davidson, Kohl`s Department Stores, Northwestern Mutual and Rockwell Automation have done is nothing short of spectacular. Not to extend the life of Mrs. Pettit`s generosity, but rather to recognize the looming threat of the Bucks short shelf-life without a new home.

Downtown's on the upswing

Last week, a national consultant presented "The Top 10 Global Trends Affecting Downtowns and How To Respond in Milwaukee" at a symposium held at The Pfister Hotel. Big and bold ideas came out of the high energy meeting.

The new BC nickname

The Milwaukee Mustangs fell to the Cleveland Gladiators 69-48 on Friday after being outscored 27-6 in the final 10 minutes of the game. The team, which had championship expectations at the start of the season, is looking for a spark as it heads into this week`s game against Georgia.
