Anna Stone will teach a hoop-making / hoop-dancing workshop on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Hide House, 2526 S. Greeley St., in Bay View.
Stone was first introduced to the hoop at the Burning Man Festival in 2003.
"I saw a very handsome cowboy tip his hat while hoop-dancing with a flaming hula hoop," says Stone. "Since then I have had an amazing journey with my hoop."
Stone traveled to California to obtain her license to teach the HoopGirl Workout, a cardio-dance program that combines hoola-hooping, music and cardio-vascular exercise.
"It incorporates moves and tricks into a number exciting ways of maneuvering the hoop and the body that are athletic and fun and has amazing benefits for the body, mind and spirit," says Stone.
The cost for this weekend's workshop is $25 per person and participants will make their own hoop from irrigation tubing and decorative tape. Music, refreshments and hoop lessons are included in the cost.
"The most talented crafters in the region will be on hand to assist you to create the hoop of your dreams," says Stone.
