Milwaukee's ESPN Radio may soon move down the AM dial.
The all-sports station -- a marketing partner of OnMilwaukee.com -- is teasing a major announcement at 5 p.m. during "The World's Greatest Sports Talk Show" hosted by Steve "The Homer" True.
Officials from Good Karma Broadcasting did not release further details, but there are indications that the company, which currently broadcasts on WAUK (1510 AM) during the day and WMCS (1290) at night, has purchased WRRD (540) from Salem Communications.
Rumors of the sale of WRRD circulated through the radio industry in recent weeks, but the identity of the new owner remained a mystery.
Until now, that is.
OnMilwaukee.com has learned that Good Karma owner Craig Karmazin has registered the Web domain for www.540espn.com.
That would seem to remove any doubt. We will update the story after the announcement at 5 p.m.
