The search for a new Bucks coach is underway.

The Bucks fired Larry Krystkowiak this morning, a day after the team dropped an overtime decision in Minnesota and finished its season with a 26-56 record.

New general manager John Hammond pledged to move quickly to resolve the coaching situation. Rick Carlisle, Scott Skiles and Larry Brown lead the list of candidates rumored to replace Krystkowiak.

"Larry Krystkowiak is a good man who worked very hard for the Milwaukee Bucks," Hammond said. "Sometimes despite even the best efforts, the results don't end up how we want them.

"At this time, I feel it is in the best interest of our franchise to make a change at the head coaching position. I want to thank Larry for his hard work and dedication to our team, and our entire organization wishes him and his family well."

Krystkowiak, who played five seasons with the Bucks, took over for Terry Stotts at the end of last season. Though the Bucks entered with high hopes for a playoff spot, the team fell apart in December and January and postseason hopes disappeared right after the all-star break.
