CC Sabathia will join the Yankees, reportedly for seven years and $160 million. |

The Christmas season is about to take a bleak turn for Brewers fans.
Months after lifting the Brewers to their first playoff appearance since 1982, left-hander CC Sabathia is on the brink of signing a seven-year, $160 million contract with the New York Yankees.
The deal was first reported by the New York Post after Sabathia and his representatives met with Yankees general manager Brian Cashman for the third consecutive day.
The Brewers may have been Sabathia's second choice. They may have been the only other team to make a concrete offer to the 2007 American League Cy Young Award winner.
But, they were a distant, distant second.
In a normal year, it would be hard for any club to compete with the Yankees' almost limitless financial resolve. This year, though, it was impossible. The Yankees haven't won a World Series since 2000. They finished out of the playoffs last year. They are being run by Hank Steinbrenner, who is trying to put a stamp on the organization that he inherited from his father, George.
Oh, and they are moving into a new stadium.
Brewers fans knew Sabathia was a rental from the day he arrived in Milwaukee from Cleveland in a trade that sent top prospect Matt LaPorta to the Indians. Sabathia took Brewers fans on an unforgettable joyride last year.
Some will now question whether it was worth it. The immediate question, though, is what will the Brewers do now.

As a full-time Red Sox fan, and part-time Brew Crew fan, I am totally displeased with this arrangement. Booooo Yankees!!!!

It's funny, Ryan Braun signs for 45 million ad there's a parade and this thought that "we're in the big time ! We matter now!" and then on 4th street, The bucks sign Andrew Bogut to a 60 Million deal !!!! and no one even knows or cares. The Bucks routinely spend like NY or LA and put the effort out there and try to get it going. It hasn't worked yet, (but will.....) and the Bucks don't have the luxury of the cash cow stadium to use to make money THAT I AND WE PAID FOR!!!!!! Melvin and Attanasio better step up and make something happen. If not, I'm not surprised, same old Brewers and their brain-washed dummy fans.

I think a fair amount of Brewers fans felt we could get him back, and don't even consider the concept of a rental situation or baseball's economic system and free agency. They are one of the dumbest fan bases in any of the major sports out there. It's a pretty low level psychology with them and they are mostly just focused on a party that goes on in the parking lot. Go Brewers, I love them, but I'll be happy rooting on my Bucks and the NBA where even tiny, old Milwaukee and the Bucks spend big money on players and compete with the New Yorks and LA's of the world. In the NBA it's possible. Look at little dump of a city and market, san Antonio..... They are a dynasty through great management not just being able to buy players like MLB. Wise up Milwaukee.

You have to dig way deeper than that TosaJim. You can't just look at wins and losses. How many games do you see pitchers lose because nobody hits behind them? Cleveland has had some good players, but definitely not great. CC's ERA has dropped every year since 2004. He's a nasty pitcher that never loses confidence...no matter how many people criticize him for his October appearances. He deserves it.
