A day after trading catcher Johnny Estrada to the New York Mets, the Brewers agreed to terms with Estrada's successor, free agent catcher Jason Kendall.
Kendall, 33, spent the second half of 2007 with the Chicago Cubs, who acquired him from the Oakland Athletics. Kendall hit .270 after the trade to finish with a combined .242 average, three home runs and 47 RBI in 137 games.
A team official confirmed the one-year deal -- with an option for 2009 -- is pending the results of a physical scheduled for next week.
