Hitting coach Butch Wynegar and first base coach Dave Nelson will not return to the Brewers next season, the club announced today.
The remainder of the coaching staff has been invited back for next season.
"We admire the work that Butch and Dave contributed to this organization," general manager Doug Melvin said in a press release. "We hold them in high regard. They both have great work ethic and are good baseball people. We just felt that there were areas of our club that did not improve over the last couple of seasons and we are hoping to get better in those areas."
Wynegar and Nelson had been with the club for the past four years.
The Brewers also that strength and conditioning specialist Rick Spenner will not be offered a contract for the 2007 season.

Larry said: Typical Brewers denial...14 straight losing seasons (one at 500)...youth and injuries is their "annual" excuse. Oakland and Minnesota consistently win with payrolls comparable payrolls. They also have young players that manage to play "small ball" - bunt, throw strikes, field their positions - something the Brewers consistently lack. Maybe its time the "captains of the ship" - Yost and Melvin start taking responsibility and and take some of the blame.

Dave Bushey said: Wynegar's dimissal is long overdue - this is the Brewers' 3rd straight season at the bottom of the NL in batting average. Good luck to him wherever he lands, but good riddance to him as far as our team goes.
