A couple weeks ago, people were jumping off the Brewers' bandwagon left and right.
It's getting crowded again.
The Brewers are en fuego.
I got to the press box just in time to see them open a can of whoopa..; well, to see them pound Arizona, which looked like a battered and beleaguered outfit this week.
As of this writing, the Brewers lead, 10-1, in the top of the seventh. Starter Manny Parra is on the mound and just tied his career best for strikeouts with eight. Starting pitching has been a key component of the hot streak. Entering today, Brewers starters had thrown eight quality starts (six innings or more, three earned runs or fewer) in eight of nine games.
The offense hasn't been shabby.
Gabe Kapler has four hits Wednesday, matching a career high. Corey Hart and Russell Branyan hit back-to-back homers in the fourth. Hart's was an inside-the-park special -- a sinking liner that eluded rightfielder Justin Upton's diving attempt and rolled to the wall.
The only "negative" to the day came when Bill Hall entered as a defensive replacement and was booed. Earlier in the week, Hall expressed his unhappiness with his playing time and his agent said that a trade would be good for all involved.
Fans didn't like that, but they like what's happening with the Brewers, who will finish their nine-game homestand with a 8-1 record and a six-game winning streak.

and it's "whoopass." You can write it out. This isn't a middle school newspaper. Go Brewers!

"The Brewers are en fuego..." Drew, you're a professional writer. you've got to be able to come up with something better than that cliche. you're better than that.
