The Brewers have acquired right-hander Seth McClung from Tampa Bay in exchange for reliever Grant Balfour.
McClung has been optioned to Class AAA Nashville. He was 1-5 with a 1.99 earned run average and five saves in 40 relief appearances at Class AAA Durham this season, holding opponents to a .184 batting average.
The Brewers had designated Balfour for assignment earlier in the day to make room on the 25-man roster for newly-acquired Scott Linebrink.
