San Francisco manager Felipe Alou, who spends a great deal of his waking hours answering questions about leftfielder Barry Bonds' pursuit of the home run mark, lost a record of his own recently but he wasn't that torn up about it.

In fact, he didn't even know he held the record.

While playing for the Atlanta Braves in 1966, Alou set a franchise record by hitting safely in 16 straight games to open the season. That record was shattered by Braves shortstop Edgar Renteria.

"I didn't know I was that good," Alou said before his team's 2-0 victory at Miller Park. Alou played in Milwaukee for both the Braves (1965-'65) and Brewers (1974).
