Admirals coach Claude Noel is looking for a few good men.
Well, one at least.
Todd Richards, who served as Noel's assistant and has worked the past four years with the club, has accepted a job as head coach with Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, the top affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"Todd Richards has been a big reason for the success that the Milwaukee Admirals have had these past three seasons," Noel said. "He's a passionate, confident young coach who will be successful in teaching the Penguins prospects how to become good pro players."
Richards, 39, helped lead the Admirals to the playoffs in all four years he spent in Milwaukee, including this past season when the team advanced to the Calder Cup Finals. He was also behind the bench when the Admirals captured the 2004 Calder Cup Title, sweeping Wilkes-Barre in the Finals.
"While we are sad that Todd will not be on the bench with the Admirals any longer, we are very pleased that he is getting a well-deserved opportunity to be a head coach," Admirals president Jon Greenberg said. "We look forward to facing Todd and the Penguins in the Calder Cup Finals at the end of next season. We wish him the best of luck."
