Smoking at Summerfest: Yay or nay? |

With the smoking ban just a year away, and public smoking at all all-time low approval rate, do you think Summerfest -- albeit outdoors -- should have no smoking or designated smoking areas? Sound off, Milwaukee, about public puffing at the Big Gig.
That's crazy! I understand banning indoor smoking, because people are forced to consume secondhand smoke, but outdoor smoking cannot be banned, too. It doesn't make any sense. It's taking the anti-smoking trend way too far.
Ban it or restrict it. Nothing is worse than when you're crammed into a packed audience and someone next to you -- or multiple people -- light up. There's no way to escape. Smoking should at least be banned in the seating areas of all stage areas. Also, when people are walking and smoking in large crowds people can easily get burned.

I was in a crowded section of the Marcus last night. The smoke was intolerable. One woman had to leave because it aggravated her asthma. Should paying customers have to become illness? When she asked the ushers/security what to do or where to go, she had no options. The smokers were completely ruder, uncaring and obnoxious. I will not go back unless this issue is addressed. Perhaps smoking could be allowed in certain areas on the grounds, but not in the Marcus.

Yes, it should go non-smoking. I was there last night to see Huey Lewis and the News and there was not one single place I could stand without someone blowing smoke in my face. It was very uncomfortable and made me leave early. I'm pregnant and I just don't want to be exposed to people's smoke. They really should create smoke-friendly spaces as well as non-smoking places for families and pregnant women or simply people who don't want to be exposed to the second-hand smoke. It's just not fair that even in the crowd where people should have more common sense, they were lighting up and blowing their smoke every which way. Common sense, people!!!

If they do partially ban it. I want to own the food, beverage and stage that does have smoking allowed on the grounds. Cha ching. But being a non smoker I think the most irritating thing is the drunks that walk with lit cigarettes in very crowded areas. And if they really want to make summer fest enjoyable again...... BAN children under the age of 21 after 7pm, unless they are in the Marcus for a paid show.

speakthetruth.... If you are going to call someone stupid (violation of OMC rules??), you should at least use proper grammar and punctuation. Zing!
