Lesson learned: stay loyal to your local shuttle bus
The best way to get here is to take one of the bars' "drunk busses."

What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published June 30, 2008 at 1:03 p.m.

Hands down, the best way to get to Summerfest is on a shuttle from your favorite bar. It's so simple and easy; just catch the bus at one of several local bars and ride it to and from the gate on the Summerfest grounds.

It's a bit reminiscent of days when my mom would drop me off at the mall or movies and as I would leave the car, we would double check that she was going to be back to pick me up at 9:15 p.m. It's the same concept with the shuttle. It seems every passenger double checks with the driver on their way off; that the shuttle will be back for them, reconfirming the place and time.

We have taken the shuttle from Palomino for a few years now and friends of mine have gotten to know the shuttle driver; apparently the same hilariously sweet guy has been doing it for years. In habitual fashion, we confirmed our pick up time and location. But then we ditched him.

It was late and we were waiting for the shuttle, when we saw a shuttle for Frank's Power Plant. We just wanted to get back to Bay View and so we jumped on with the intention of just walking the few extra blocks home. The shuttle driver graciously dropped us off on KK Avenue and slightly closer to home.

It was just like one of those coincidentally unfortunate moments in a movie, as our adopted shuttle school bus pulled away, our real Palomino bus appeared and our driver sat with the door open and a look of sincere dismay.

With a slightly sly, joking smile on his face he said, "You violated. You just couldn't wait? I said 12:15 a.m. and I was there at 12:15 a.m. I'm sorry but you violated." He then shut the door and rounded the corner towards the Palomino leaving us to walk the extra blocks.
