What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published July 3, 2008 at 10:11 a.m.

There are a ton of things to buy at Summerfest. But, the beer pouch hoodie caught my eye this year. So much so that I went straight to George Keppler at Brew City Promotions to ask him five quick questions about this new "must have" item.

OnMilwaukee.com: How long have the beer pouch hoodies been available, and did Brew City come up with the idea? If so, how?

George Keppler, Brew City Promotions: They first came out a little over a year ago. We came up with the idea and we have actually patented it! Pocket is lined and insulated and even holds plastic stadium bottles, soda bottles, heck ... even baby bottles. Tell your wife!

I came up with the idea because my wife told me I had a beer belly and could most likely hold a beer on my belly. I tried it. Next thing you know ... I was duct taping beer bottles to myself, wondering "could this really work?"

OMC: Are they guaranteed not to spill my beer?

GK: No! They are guaranteed to give you an extra hand for another beer or other things ... but if ya bend down ... you're gonna spill some beer!

OMC: How much?

GK: $38.99

OMC: Are there other logos and colors available?

GK: Lots of various Milwaukee, Brew City ... Miller Brewing Co logos available at the Miller Oasis area. These have also been featured at Urban Outfitter's, Nordstrom and Spencer gifts!

OMC: How many do you expect to sell this year at the Fest?

GK: A few thousand ... unless it is relentlessly hot for final days.

I hosted a "milwaukee" themed 50th bday party for my parents back in the beginning of may. when I took them to the sprecher brewery for the tour, sprecher had them there for sale with their logo. funny thing is my uncle already had one on that he had just bought from brew city that morning. We thoght it was an ingenious idea, being the beer drinkers we are, but my uncle also used them for holding his cigarettes without crushing them. I was wondering the same thing if this was going to be the big thing this summer. thanks for the update!
