Music legends Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson will share the bill July 1 at the Marcus Amphitheater, Summerfest officials announced today.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets, priced at $59.50 (red seats), $49.50 (yellow), and $37 (bench), go on sale May 2 at the Amphitheater box office and through Ticketmaster. Prices include Summerfest admission.
Dylan and Nelson have toured together in the past. The pair teamed up for a "ballpark tour" for the first time in 2004, hitting 22 minor-league fields during August and September.
"Together Through Life," Dylan's 46th release and 33rd studio album -- the first new studio release since 2006 -- hits stores on Tuesday.
Summerfest 2009 takes place June 25-July 5 from noon until midnight daily at the Henry Maier Festival Park along the lakefront.

Bob Dylan will never NOT be a main stage act. and it's not just critics than fawn over Dylan. plenty of good 'ol regular folk i know consider the last three Dylan records to be essential, and they don't feel the need to rip on "critics" just to feel like their opinion is more honest for some reason.

I would consider this a weak main stage booking because both Dylan and Nelson are way past their expiration date. I realize critics still fawn all over Bob Dylan, but I think it's one of those things where they feel that they have to in order to be smarter than the rest of us. As another poster pointed out, Dylan is feast or famine in concert. I've seen him twice and the two performances couldn't have been any more different in terms of quality. Nelson is still a solid performer, but he's been playing much smaller venues lately. Both guys are legends, but at some point you are no longer a main stage act.

how far does your head have to be up your butt to consider legends like Dylan and Willie Nelson "weak"?
