If you're a fan of OnMilwaukee.com and wish you had a hand in building our Web site, then I'd like to talk to you.

We're looking to hire a programmer (or programmers), and perhaps an IT person, as well. The ideal candidate can handle both responsibilities, but we'll also consider splitting the job in two.

By now, you probably know that we're a pretty fun company to work for, so please take a look at this job description. If you think you'd be a good match, send me an e-mail. We'd like to fill this position right away. I look forward to hearing from you.

Introduction:

OnMilwaukee.com, a Milwaukee based online city guide and Web development company is looking for a senior programmer. The qualified applicant should have a information technology or computer science related degree and at least five years of applicable experience. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining applications for both internal and external projects.

Requirements:

Five or more years of experience with PERL.

Five or more years of experience with some form of Linux (Ubuntu or Debian preferred).

Three or more years of experience with MySQL.

Three or more years of experience with Apache.

Two or more years of experience with RUBY (Rails a plus).

Experience with the full software development life-cycle including requirements, design, development, testing, documentation, etc.

A sharp mind with the ability to grasp concepts quickly and work out complex logic problems.

Working understanding of UNIX services such as Bind, Postfix and VMware.

Ability to maintain Zimbra, Mongrel, Nginx, MS SQL Server, Cisco router and F5 networks BigIP.

Working understanding of object-oriented design practices.

Must understand XML, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Excellent communication skills.

Agile methodology concepts a plus.

Roles:

Understand, analyze and enhance OnMilwaukee.com's Web site and the sites of our clients.

Work with Publisher of OnMilwaukee.com to develop new programming projects.

Performs day-to-day administration, maintenance and support of network infrastructure, including LAN, servers, routers, security, network applications.

Handle multiple priorities in a fast paced work environment.

Work both independently and in a collaborative manner.

Implements server, workstations, backup systems, and power management solutions (UPS).

Isolate and resolve software problems as reported by clients and co-workers.
