OnMilwaukee.com, Milwaukee's only daily magazine, today announced the introduction of a new, larger top ad size on the pages of its daily content Web site. Designed to be more engaging to advertisers and readers, the size was created in response to advertiser demand for simpler, more cost effective ad units and a stronger creative look. The new size is the first of its kind for local Web sites in the greater Milwaukee media market.

In December 2002, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), the leading voice of the interactive advertising and marketing industry also announced the recommendation of a new larger sized unit. Its Ad Sizes Committee, which includes AOL, MSN, Yahoo! and CNET Networks Inc., agreed upon the new size, which is intended to make online advertising even easier and as simple to plan and implement as TV or print, increasing the efficiency for online media buying.

"We have always run our business with the philosophy that we need to stay ahead of the curve. This is another example that OnMilwaukee.com is leading the charge for online media in Metro Milwaukee. Our new size ad will result in a stronger, more unified creative palette -- and will make it even easier for our loyal readers to learn more about the companies, services and products that advertise on our pages," said co-founder and VP Business Development Jon Krouse.

The 728x90 pixel "billboard" ad provides an expansive horizontal lens through which consumers can view products and brands online. It replaces the 468x60 pixel banner ad that has been an industry standard since it debuted on wired.com in 1994.

"Larger format sizes, which are naturally more visible and provide more creative freedom, are significantly more effective than smaller, standard banners across all types of campaigns," said Jeff Sherman, another OnMilwaukee.com co-founder. "We look forward to working with our existing advertisers, new advertisers and agencies to implement this innovative new ad product."

OnMilwaukee.com is Milwaukee's only daily magazine and Internet City Guide (http://www.onmilwaukee.com). Featuring more than 1,500 business listings, e-postcards, a movie guide and ticketing, weekly polls, live traffic cameras, restaurant reviews, sports from USA Today columnist Gregg Hoffmann and national radio talk show host Steve Czaban, a live event calendar, weather, news, classifieds, personals, exclusive features and much more --OnMilwaukee.com is the premier source for creative, local and easy-to-use Milwaukee content.
