In regards to "bitch" being a derogatory term for women- it's connotations have been turned around by many women, including feminists, to include such meanings as; a strong woman, a woman who asserts herself and a women who know what she wants.
It's similar (but to a much lesser degree) to how the "N" word has been turned around by African Americans to be a term of camaraderie among one another but it is still highly unacceptable for someone from another race to use that word.
