Talkback: Memo to Marquette fans: Get over it, already

Al, again, the UW athletics department is self-supporting. This means that the department receives NO tax dollars.
If you don't believe this, I'm sure the state's general accounting office (as well as many third-party citizen watchdog groups) has documents proving this.
Also, in order to win an argument, you need to use correct facts. UW's 2007 enrollment numbers:
Enrollment, faculty, staff and alumni (Fall 2007)
Undergraduate students
Freshmen 5,571
Sophomores 6,078
Juniors 7,803
Seniors 9,547
Total 28,999
Graduate students 8,860
Professional students
Law 881
Medicine and Public Health 819
Veterinary Medicine 313
Audiology 32
Pharmacy 518
Total 2,563
Special students 1,619
Total enrolled students 42,041
Employees 16,255
Faculty 2,054
Living alumni 362,577

A lot less than the 70,000 students you claim UW has.
Marquette pales in comparison to UW in all aspects except one: you have a dental school. UW is superior in academics, athletics, research dollars (I believe it is #2 behind Johns Hopkins University - the school's WARF foundation also holds the patent on stem cell research, something will bring billions of dollars back to the state), number of Peace Corps volunteers and Fortune 500 CEOs (last time I read, we were #2 behind Harvard).
Who is the naive one now?
