Talkback: Downtown Milwaukee needs a Kopp’s

I think a big reason for the lack of cheap downtown dining opitions is due to the fact that nobody lives there. Other than the Grand Ave Food Court and Potbelly's, everything is a bit more pricy, from the two Thai places and the Calderone Club, to the dozen steakhouses downtown, thats about all there is. When you think of downtown living, you don't really have any real population except for the two building on 3rd and wisconsin, other then that it's 5 blocks west to the very beginning of Marquette residences, most of which are on the other side of the freeway, and you have to go another 5 blocks east to find apartment buildings along Milwaukee and Jefferson Sts. North and South is even worse, to the South you don't have any residential living until well into the third ward, nearly to Walker's Point, and to the North, there isn't any established housing until the area around 6th and Cherry st. Until Milwaukee has more people downtown after 8pm (go downtown on a Sunday-Thursday after 8pm, it's deserted and depressing) there's no need for a faster food joint. And while it would be neat, as downtown is desperatly in need of some sort of neon or large signage life, it just won't happen with the way the city is laid out.

Will you stop drinking Miller beers now that MillerCoors has announced it will move to Chicago?
Yes, I'm no longer loyal to the brand.
No, Miller beer will still be made in Milwaukee.
I didn't drink it before, and I won't drink it after.
I'm not sure yet, but of all places, did they have to move to Chicago?
At least they won't be based in Dallas or Denver.
