When our daughter was going to Madrid University a few yrs. back we visited.Being dancers we were anxious to visit Joy Eslava a famous/popular disco in Madrid. They don't open untill 11:30PM!Wanting to make sure we had ample room to dance we insisted on going right at opening, against our daughter's advice. She said no one would be there yet.She was right. When we arrived we were the first ones there & the staff was first then cleaning up from the night before! People didn't really start coming in until about 1AM & things really didn't get going until 2-3AM.They go strong from 3AM till Madrid Bar time 5AM.This can only happen in a country were siesta is the custom. For a variety of reasons siesta ought to be the rule & not the exception in the world !
