mkelover is WRONG. In a primary you are not allowed to vote for candidates from more than one party in a partisan race, so says the state elections board: http://elections.state.wi.us/docview.asp?docid=1920&locid=47
However, you can do crossover voting in a general election, and when you register you do not have to declare a party affiliation. Local races for alderman, county sup., etc. are nonpartisan.
