Last week, I wrote about Club Garibaldi's dry, spicy wings on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the invention of the buffalo wing. That led friend Colin Deval to ask if I'd ever tried his current favorites, which are plated up at the Milwaukee Brat House on Old World 3rd Street. I hadn't tried 'em, so we met for lunch there this week.

Yesterday, Buffalo, N.Y. - and much of America - celebrated the 50th anniversary of the invention of Buffalo-style chicken wings. I toasted the wing at Club Garibaldi in Bay View.

BMW's new advertising spot, "Hello Future," toasts the German automobile company's i8 plug-in concept and models. It also salutes Milwaukee with a prominent placement of the opening of the Burke Brise Soleil at the Milwaukee Art Museum. It's been online for a while and got its broadcast TV debut during the opening ceremonies Friday evening.

For more than 40 years, Major Goolsby's has been anchored on the corner of 4th Street and Kilbourn Avenue. So many other restaurants within a few blocks have come and gone, but Goolsby's continues to thrive. Why is this?

I went to McGinn's Sports Bar, 5901 W. Bluemound Rd., Wednesday evening to watch the Pirates-Cardinals game. Although the Bucs didn't win, I did because I tasted, for the first time, McGinn's sweet sweet maple bourbon chicken wings.
