You know that little smiley face, used in texts, emails, instant messages, created by the combination of the colon and parentheses? I hate that little smiley face and somehow I've started using it.

Keep your driving laws off my cell phone!
I'm wholeheartedly opposed to legislation that would make it illegal to use a cell phone while driving. Yes, texting while driving is a bad idea -- and I've done it plenty -- but the act of talking on a phone and driving a car simultaneously should not be made a crime.

Some officials to our south, including Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, are supporting a bill that would ban using a wireless device while crossing streets.

I text like English is my second language
The other night, after my wife finished sending a text message from her Palm Treo, she looked up and said to me, "I text like English is my second language." I laughed out loud, because I realized that I do, too.
