IRS releases list of Wisconsinites owed undeliverable tax refund
The Internal Revenue Service announced today that nearly $849,000 is waiting for Wisconsin taxpayers whose income tax refund checks were sent back to the IRS as undeliverable. That money is owed to 1,164 Wisconsinites, of whom 312 live in Milwaukee County. Their average check is $729.

Hospitals pony up nothing for tax-tight budgets
As the building boom for the non-profit hospital industry continues, the bottom line is that those buildings do not equal more property taxes for municipal coffers.

Latest political alias? The Realtors
The barrage of political issue ads from front groups of major political players continues this week as the Wisconsin Realtors Association debuted its new alias, the Wisconsin Homeowners Alliance. It’s target: Gov. Doyle’s proposed increase in the real estate transfer fee.

Suburban leaders balk at sales tax plan
Proposals for a regional sales tax boost are getting a thumbs down from suburban leaders. Among them is Waukesha County Executive Daniel Vrakas, who says Milwaukee's best answer to its fiscal problems is not to lobby taxpayers to raise the sales tax but to lobby Madison for diverting some of that revenue.
