Metcalf's Screening Room: "Star Trek"
There have been plenty of "prequels" released lately, but not all of them make you want to dive deeper into the back catalog. OnMilwaukee.com movie expert Mark Metcalf has never been a "Trekkie," but after seeing "The Future Begins," he was inspired to increase his education about the Enterprise. "The filmmakers are having so much fun playing with time and with the history of their own pop-culture that I found it very difficult to remain a detached observer," he writes.

J.J. Abrams had a tall task when he set out to make the new "Star Trek" movie. First, the creator of "Lost" had to restart a proud, but sagging franchise. And second, he had to do it in a way that pleased both Trekkies and newbies, alike.

Aesthetically pleasing "Mikado" offers hours of eye sushi
The full house crowd at the opening of Skylight's production of "The Mikado" was twittering with excitement Friday night. A few people were dressed in yukatas and Japanese headbands in anticipation of the season's last show.
