Narrowing it down to 10 ... a futile work in progress
With apologies to Nick Hornby, I'm not much of a list-maker anymore. Sure, I was the music geek kid with a list -- and a ready-made mix tape -- for every eventuality, but now I love music more than I enjoy trying to quantify it.

New Son Volt offers a different take
Son Volt version 2.0 arguably reaches the heights of the original version, but is different. So, keeping the name remains a mystery, except that it allows Farrar to move back into a band setting without having to reintroduce himself.

Wilco's Bennett helps West of Rome find its sound
Milwaukee bands are getting awfully friendly with Jay Bennett, formerly of Wilco. Last year, Michelle Anthony released her Bennett-produced disc, and now her friends West of Rome follow suit, even though their disc was recorded earlier.
