Milwaukee's best chef, 2009: Sanford D'Amato
Working as a chef in his hometown for nearly 30 years, including 20 at the iconic restaurant that bears his first name, Sanford D'Amato has garnered dozens of awards for his cooking. Now, he has another. D'Amato, who along with his wife, Angie, operates Sanford and Coquette Cafe was named Milwaukee's best chef in our readers' survey.

Chin's Asia Fresh is closed; Harlequin Bakery follows Friday
Chin's Asia Fresh, 2907 N. Oakland Ave., has closed. According to a sign on its door, the Asian fusion restaurant closed for good yesterday. Also reportedly closing on Friday is the Harlequin Bakery in the Third Ward.

Coquette Café focuses on detail, dishes from around the globe
Angie and Sanford D'Amato opened Coquette in February 1999, and in doing so, truly created one of Milwaukee's best dining establishments. Coquette's menu rotates in "Travels" and as a result, carries some fine specialties from all over the world.
