Hawthorn Glen is loads of fun
It's certainly not a secret if you live in the neighborhood, but I recently discovered Hawthorn Glen, a 25-acre park and nature center run by Milwaukee Public Schools and tucked away north of State Street in the shadow of the big water tower that also overlooks Hawley Road.

Nike and the National Recycling Coalition partnered over 10 years ago to promote the Reuse-a-shoe program, and now Milwaukee is taking part. And both the earth and one lucky Milwaukee Public School will benefit.

Riverwest neighbors spruce up green space
"We're trying to bring back all aspects of the park's aesthetics," says Riverwest artist Marina Lee, who is working with artists, neighbors and school groups to transform "Baby Park" into the spectacular "Snail's Crossing."
