CD battles childhood cancer ... Milwaukee take note
"Give Listen Help" is a double-disc set of CDs featuring rare tracks by the likes of The Decemberists, Radiohead, Oasis and more. It helps the Pablove Foundation and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles cure children's cancer. And, sadly, there's a Milwaukee connection.

The sophomore effort reconsidered
To paraphrase a common adage, a band has a lifetime to write a debut disc and six months to write the second one. While that may be less true these days when it's not unsual for artists to spend two or more years on a new record, traditionally sophomore albums haven't always gotten the respect they deserve.

New Oasis adds new gleam to Summerfest grounds
A renovation with a price tag, "just north of $3 million," has rendered the new Miller Lite Oasis bigger, brighter and bolder. The new stage was launched with a concert by the Violent Femmes and Ben Folds last weekend.

Femmes, Folds play free gig
The Violent Femmes and Ben Folds will play a free pre-Summerfest gig on the Miller Lite Oasis, Saturday, May 27 at 5:30 p.m. The show is a celebration of the completion of the new Oasis stage on the Summerfest grounds.
