Brewers notebook: Macha will be back in 2010
The 2009 season came to an end for the Brewers Sunday in St. Louis with a 10-inning, 9-7 victory over the Cardinals. The victory gave Milwaukee an 80-82 record -- the first losing season in manager Ken Macha's career. Before the game, general manager Doug Melvin announced that Macha will be back in 2010 with a team option for a return in 2011.

Brewers Notebook: Short starts lead to bad results
Through their first 39 games, the Brewers led all of baseball with 25 quality starts. In their last 29 games, they've notched just seven. The results are evident, as the Brewers have dropped a game-and-a-half behind the Cardinals in the National League Central.

A pretty promising progress report
Two weeks is not a lot of time to make concrete assessments, but the Brewers, who have won six of their first 10 games, have answered a few questions and raised some others.

If you could choose, would you prefer December or March to stay warm and snowless in Milwaukee?
December. I'm not ready for winter yet.
March. By then, I need winter to be over.
There's no use complaining or hoping for better weather in Wisconsin.
Actually, I like snow.
