Spencer's sophomore release makes the grade
After a year of recording, mixing and mastering, Heidi Spencer has released her second independent album, "The Luck We Make." Her first disc, "Matches and Valentines," a diverse collection of acoustic-based songs, came out a couple of years ago.

Sweet melaniejane
Folk-rocker melaniejane has been on the local music scene for only a few years, but the classically-trained cellist has already dazzled critics and audiences with her dynamic stage presence and ambitious new album, "flower." She will play at Linnemann's in Riverwest on Fri, Aug. 2.
