MU, Badgers break hearts and brackets in Boise
There is no joy in Mudville and, as of yesterday, no college basketball in Wisconsin. Marquette and Wisconsin both exited the stage at Taco Bell Arena, breaking hearts and brackets across the land while making sports fans look forward to the start of the Brewers' regular season. Marquette lost to Missouri; the Badgers lost their game with Xavier.

Marquette survives a scare against Utah State
The tension was palpable inside the Marquette Union Sports Annex. Outside of Finals Week and the occasional unannounced inspection by a resident advisor, you don't sense that kind of gut-wrenching drama on campus. But, it was present in abundance Friday afternoon as the Golden Eagles outlasted Utah State, 58-57, to win their first-round game in the NCAA Tournament.

It was a week of shocking stories. We found out that Michael Phelps doesn't exercise his lungs only in the pool, Marquette lost a game at South Florida and Alex Rodriguez -- you know, the guy who was supposed to rescue baseball and its records from the taint of the steroid era? -- well, Sports Illustrated tells us he took steroids, too.

Saturday Scorecard: Something to shout about
With a crowd of more than 19,000 rocking the Bradley Center, Marquette overcame a sluggish start Saturday and defeated Georgetown to push its record to 19-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the Big East. The Golden Eagles are racking up victories and individual milestones in what is shaping up as a special season.
