Photographer Deone Jahnke has long been a part of the music scene, taking some of the best photos of area musicians. So, when word arrived yesterday that Jahnke is celebrating the opening of her new Nashville photos studio with an open house on May 14, I immediately feared we were losing this treasure.

From Beautiful Pollution to Avenue of Beauty: Meaghan Owens' new music
Meaghan Owens, an alt-folk/Americana musician, was formerly in the band Beautiful Pollution. Her new record, a solo effort called "No Whiskey In A Good Girl's River," just came out. She plays later this month at The Highbury and Circle-A Cafe.

Spencer's sophomore release makes the grade
After a year of recording, mixing and mastering, Heidi Spencer has released her second independent album, "The Luck We Make." Her first disc, "Matches and Valentines," a diverse collection of acoustic-based songs, came out a couple of years ago.

Spencer strikes gold with "Matches and Valentines"
Her local rock icon father died when she was only nine years old. Her grandma bought her a guitar at a flea market. She has lived and traveled all over the country. All of this said, it seems inevitable that Heidi Spencer became an artist, specifically, a musician.
