Keeping on the stench
Midwest Environmental Advocates, Friends of Milwaukee's Rivers and Family Farm Defenders have joined the more than 70 groups from 27 states objecting to a proposal by the Environmental Protection Agency that would exempt factory farms from reporting emissions of toxic gases from animal waste.

Greens win one
It has a good name -- Empowerment Village -- and a good cause, offering affordable housing for mentally ill people. But good intentions didn't convince members of the Milwaukee City Plan Commission to give away some important green space along the Kinnickinnic River.

Attempts to tame Milwaukee River continue
Ever since the North Avenue dam was torn down in 1998, the city has battled with Mother Nature and the forces of water to keep the river in check. The river is winning.

MMSD wants to flush suit
It may be just perception, but it appears the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District is getting tired of defending itself for raw sewage dumping -- a violation of its permit.
