Today I attended several sessions at day two of the International Downtown Association's annual meeting at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee. During the next two weeks, I will blog on different topics covered at the conference. Today's topic is retail.

The 55th Annual IDA conference will run Sept. 11-15. Events and sessions are being scheduled all around Downtown, but the home base for the conference will be the Midwest Airlines Center.

Milwaukee's iconic revolving restaurant atop the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, Polaris, is closing, although it will reopen for private events. Polaris opened in 1980. It completes one revolution every 70 minutes, offering diners a panoramic view of the city.

Local retailers are receiving "priority" consideration for spaces at The Brewery, and the Zilber Group is actively pursing several local and national tenants. Which ones would you like to see there? Chime in now.

By the end of January, and for the first time since 1996, people will once again work -- and live! -- at the former Pabst Brewery site. This marks a major move forward for the development of the new Downtown Milwaukee neighborhood that's now called The Brewery.
