Dairyland casino boosters voice optimism
Kenosha developer Dennis Troha says he expects a final version of the environmental impact study for a Kenosha casino to be done this month. But will it be in front of Gov. Jim Doyle for his signature by time the November gubernatorial election comes around?

Potawatomi expansion back on track
Potawatomi spokesman Ken Walsh tells us that the long-awaited $240 million expansion of the existing tribal casino will soon get underway. "It should start to look like a construction site this month," Walsh said of the site at the east end of the valley, on property just south of Canal Street.

Battles waged over Kenosha casino plan
The failure of the state Legislature Wednesday to override Gov. Jim Doyle's veto of their oversight of casino sitings makes the odds much better that Kenosha will someday get a casino, proponents say.

Doyle veto expected on casino oversight bill
Sources close to the bid for a Kenosha casino at Dairyland Greyhound Park expect Gov. Jim Doyle to veto a bill that would give the state Legislature oversight in the process. Doyle has received letters supporting the project from Kenosha's county executive and mayor, a number of labor unions and even Kenosha teachers.
