Saturday Scorecard: About last night... Fair or foul?
Plenty of Brewers fans -- not to mention players, coaches and broadcasters -- think the team got hosed last night when umpire Brian Gorman ruled that Tony Clark's slicing line drive was fair. Fans who focus on that call -- damaging though it was -- are largely ignoring the two-out walks and offensive shortcomings that contributed to the defeat.

Fair or foul? Without replay, Brewers stuck with loss
At first glance, it looked as if Tony Clark's ball landed in foul territory. Third-base umpire Brian Gorman thought otherwise and ruled it fair; giving Tony Clark a two-run double that figured to be the difference in Milwaukee's 5-2 loss to Arizona Friday night. Without extensive instant replay in baseball, that's just the way it goes.
