Brewers Notebook: Prince is the new King
There might be a few people left that don't realize just how good Prince Fielder is, but that group is shrinking by day. Saturday night, Fielder again etched his name in to the franchise annals when he hit drove in his 127th run of the season, surpassing Cecil Cooper for No. 1 on the list.

Brewers Notebook: Sounding a call to arms
The Brewers returned to respectability -- and the post-season -- with a bumper crop of home-grown talent. But while Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart, Bill Hall and Mat Gamel have added some wallop to the Milwaukee lineup, the organization has come up empty when it comes to developing pitchers. When the 2009 MLB draft kicks off Tuesday, the Brewers are expected to focus on arms.

Gallardo flirts with perfection; saves day with bat
Yovani Gallardo will never be confused for CC Sabathia, but his last couple of outings have been reminiscent of some of the big fella's September performances. Nearly perfect on Wednesday, Gallardo threw eight scoreless innings and won the game with a solo homer in the seventh as Milwaukee beat Pittsburgh, 1-0.

Gallardo healthy, rested, ready for start in Game 1
Yovani Gallardo went 9-5 in his rookie season, conjuring up images of a formidable 1-2 bunch atop the Brewers' rotation with Ben Sheets. A knee injury sidelined him after just three starts. Gallardo's comeback performance boosts Brewers
Five months after rupturing a ligament in his right knee, Yovani Gallardo returned to the mound in a do-or-die game and gave the Brewers four solid innings that set the stage for a pivotal 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh. Think Curt Schilling, but without the Boston-New York hype or the bloody sock.

Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
