Pabst Farms development brews up more controversy
Despite remarks by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Rod Nilsestuen, state agr secretary, Waukesha County is hardly turning into one big parking lot. So said Waukesha County Exec Daniel Vrakas, in response to criticism by Barrett and Nilsestuen at a luncheon last week at the Oconomowoc Lake Club.

Milwaukee considers policing options
Milwaukeeans have heard proposals from state, county and local officials to counter the violence problem, and on Monday a Common Council committee will consider a proposal to shift $750,000 from a contingency fund to pay for police recruit training.

Suburban leaders balk at sales tax plan
Proposals for a regional sales tax boost are getting a thumbs down from suburban leaders. Among them is Waukesha County Executive Daniel Vrakas, who says Milwaukee's best answer to its fiscal problems is not to lobby taxpayers to raise the sales tax but to lobby Madison for diverting some of that revenue.

Opinion: First transit chairman seeks quick rail links
The man who was recently tabbed as the first chairman of the new Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Transit Authority would like to see Milwaukee connected with Kenosha and all points south by rail within two years.
