Don't hang up that bike yet. We're going World Class
It might seem odd to begin promoting cycling while the winter season looms ahead, but this Thursday, an event aims to prove that it is never too late to pick up a bike and, perhaps, it's always too early to hang it up.

Sunday Sound-off: When do you turn on the heat?
Nobody wants to crank the heat any earlier than they have to, but Wisconsin has unpredictable weather patterns and sometimes it gets chilly long before it "should." Are you one of those people who has a strict rule about when you turn on the heat or do you turn it on whenever you get cold?

Predicting Milwaukee's winter weather
At the start of winter we heard that the lack of a La Nina could spell a drier season than last year and the result was the second snowiest December on record. Now, there's talk that a La Nina has formed out in the Pacific and that it could change our weather. So, I called Dale Mohler, a meteorologist at AccuWeather in State College, Penn., to get his take on where this winter is going.

Too cold to blog
As Bobby and I trudged over to Alterra for a morning coffee, in hopes that hot liquid would also thaw out our writers' blocks, we agreed that it's hard to get inspiration to write about anything other than shoveling, driving in snow or shivering at work.

Why does it always seem way too early?
Why does it always seem way too early for this? Last winter -- which I generally prefer not to talk about -- didn't hit us until later and it felt way too soon for that. So, getting walloped like this at the end of November / beginning of December just seems plain cruel.
