Silent bats, shaky defense cost Brewers in Game 1
With their bats silenced by Phillies lefty Cole Hamels (pictured), the Brewers couldn't afford defensive miscues. They made a couple in the third inning that led to three runs in the third inning. That was all the Phillies needed. The Brewers made things interesting in the ninth, but they ended up losing, 3-1, in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

Brewers charge into the playoffs; will face Phillies
Led by leftfielder Ryan Braun (pictured) and indomitable pitcher CC Sabathia, the Brewers defeated the Cubs, 3-1, before a sellout crowd of 45,299 Sunday at Miller Park. A few minutes later, the Mets lost to the Marlins in New York, giving the Brewers the National League wild card berth and their first trip to the playoffs since 1982.

Counsell plays key supporting role for Brewers
Whitefish Bay native Craig Counsell was just a kid when the Brewers went to the postseason 26 years ago. Now, he's going as a player. "We're not going to stop talking about 1982," said Counsell, who drew a game-tying, bases-loaded walk in a 3-1 victory over Chicago Sunday at Miller Park. "But, now we have something else to talk about, too."

"And then, there was one..."
This could be one of the greatest days in Milwaukee sports history. On the other hand, it could be one of the worst. As the they square off against the Cubs in the final game of the regular season, the Brewers need a victory to guarantee a tie for the wild-card berth. Even before the gates open, the tension at the ballpark is thick.
