Silent bats, shaky defense cost Brewers in Game 1
With their bats silenced by Phillies lefty Cole Hamels (pictured), the Brewers couldn't afford defensive miscues. They made a couple in the third inning that led to three runs in the third inning. Counsell plays key supporting role for Brewers
Whitefish Bay native Craig Counsell was just a kid when the Brewers went to the postseason 26 years ago. Now, he's going as a player. "But, now we have something else to talk about, too."

"And then, there was one..."
This could be one of the greatest days in Milwaukee sports history. On the other hand, it could be one of the worst. As the they square off against the Cubs in the final game of the regular season, the Brewers need a victory to guarantee a tie for the wild-card berth. Even before the gates open, the tension at the ballpark is thick.

Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
