How early is too early?
As of today, Milwaukee Downtown's blue holiday lights line Wisconsin Avenue and stores like Target and Whole Foods stack holiday displays in nearly every aisle. To my knowledge, Christmas music hasn't taken over the radio waves just yet but I'd assume WMYX's Delilah is going to make the switch any day now.

"Ninja-style" vandals strike near Farwell and North
A group of about 20 to 30 vandals, dressed in black and wearing masks, committed multiple acts of vandalism just after 11 p.m. last night. The group, which some witnesses described as "looking like ninjas," damaged the windows of several businesses and vehicles near the East Side intersection of Farwell and North Avenues, threw barricades into the street and set off smoke bombs.

The first signs of swine flu madness
I've calmed down a little bit since my Monday blog about swine flu. I feel like governments around the world are taking this potential pandemic seriously. But I saw the first sign of panic this afternoon, in the form of a woman wearing a blue face mask as she did her grocery shopping.

Malia Designs carry a cause from Brew City to Cambodia
It's a beautiful thing when fashion meets function. Such is the case with the creations of Malia Designs, a socially-conscious company that produces attractive, purposeful messenger bags, totes, scarves and wallets made in Cambodia by vendors with a human rights' mission.

Can you taste the difference between organic and non-organic foods?
Not wanting your produce or ingredients scoured in chemical-laden pesticides in obvious. And the eco-reasons for supporting organics are many. But my question is, can you taste the difference between organic food and non-organic food?

Sampling liquid gold from Jamaica
The other day Whole Foods coffee ace Sean Quast offered me a taste of a new coffee he had received for sampling. Being a Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee -- something I can never afford to buy on my own -- and because I'm always into trying new coffees, I jumped at the chance.

What would you pay for unlimited coffee?
Recently, Bruegger's began offering a special deal for unlimited coffee for a year, their "Bottomless Mug Club," for $129. On the surface, that seems like a lot, but then I did the math.

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
